From the time I first met with Susan and Brennan in Forest Hills, Queens, I knew their wedding was going to be great because they were so down to earth and nice. I was right - it was amazing! The couple had a beautiful ceremony set up in the middle of the main room. They had a keyboard player and a singer who both used my system. I plugged the keyboard into one of my speakers and provided mics for the singer and the officiant.
It was a great ceremony, but I was most impressed by the officiant. Want to know why? He was also the keyboard player! During the ceremony they stopped for a song. The officiant went back to his keyboard, nailed the song, and then went back to the chuppah and finished the ceremony. Too cool.
We continued the 26 Bridge wedding at cocktail hour with the live musicians. At dinner I played a mix of Motown, jazz and light R&B and hip-hop that I curated with the couple. I could see several guests bobbing their heads to the music and a few came up to ask the names of songs. We did toasts during the main course and all those who spoke used my wireless mic.
After dinner, the couple danced to "In the Mood for Love." Their guests went crazy for their first dance and it was a good lead-in to the dance set. They chose a mix of indie pop, hip-hop and top-40. They gave me a few songs they loved and I improvised from them. Their crowd danced all night and it was really fun!
"Ben was an amazing DJ and the best vendor we hired for our wedding! He helped us curate a great play-list, kept the party going, and gave announcements in the low-key way we requested. He also went above and beyond his responsibilities as a DJ: he brought a mic for our ceremony, saved a religiously important momento that was going to be discarded(!), and gently reminded us if we were running a bit behind schedule.
Friends wanted his name for their weddings and our security guy at the front door asked for his business card. He was so relaxing to work with and was such a calming presence. We'd recommend him in a heartbeat!"
