I had a great time DJing Anna and John's Maison May wedding in Brooklyn, NY. They had a beautiful ceremony in the backyard, and later cocktail hour upstairs, both with a live jazz duo.

For dinner everyone came downstairs and grooved to tunes I selected with feedback from the bride and groom. They asked for soul, rocksteady reggae, motown and "funky weid jazzy stuff" (ha!). I really had fun with that. I was at the other end of the room from the couple, but I could see them bobbing their heads to certain songs and some of their guests were dancing in their seats.

Later on we took this Maison May Wedding upstairs for dancing. I introduced them into the room to LL Cool J's "I Need Love." If you know the song, you know what a cool choice that was. When they got to the middle of the dance floor they started their first to "Baby" by Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti. At the time, I was unfamiliar with "Baby," but I've had it requested at least twice since.

Next up was the dance set and they really turned it out. They asked for an eclectic mix of soul, funk, 80's, new wave and dance music. And everyone had an amazing time! As you can see from the photos, all their guests and family members joined in.

Ben was an absolute joy to work with. He was always on top of everything, had the whole process super streamlined, and had us dancing our asses off all night! Plus, to top it off, he's just simply a great person. I couldn't recommend him highly enough - John
